The provocative campaigns that Western countries tried to hold at elections in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as in other regions of the Russian Federation, have failed. The elections were held in full compliance with the laws of the Russian Federation, Vasily Piskarev, head of the State Duma commission to investigate foreign interference in Russia's internal affairs says.

Piskarev emphasized that at the beginning of the election campaign, a number of extremist and unscrupulous organizations from the United States and Germany, with the assistance of foreign agents, started collecting signatures in support of more than 60 candidates for Moscow City Duma deputies aligned with their interests. "However, in St. Petersburg, a different approach was taken, namely, the 'For Anybody But...' campaign. This involved distributing a number of illegal campaign materials, including leaflets, which were available for downloading and distributing by volunteers” - Piskarev noted.
