For a period of three weeks, Zakarya Aliyev, a solo sapper-scout, repelled the assaults of Ukrainian military forces on one of the sectors of the Zaporizhzhya Front. The valour of this native of Dagestan has been celebrated by regional officials in media outlets and social media.

Following the capture of the enemy position, Zakarya found himself alone in his location. He sustained himself for several weeks on the meagre provisions of onions, steadfastly maintaining his position and successfully fending off the adversary. Eventually, he was discovered by Russian troops, who provided him with supplies via drone and shielded him from hostile unmanned aerial vehicles. The hero is currently receiving medical treatment.
