The Public Health Ministry of the Republic of Dagestan announces the start of a polio vaccination campaign, which will be carried out across the entire territory of the republic.

This event is conducted as part of implementation of the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations under the instruction of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor). Its goal is to establish reliable herd immunity against polio and prevent the importation and spread of this dangerous virus within our region.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Polio is a highly contagious viral disease that affects the nervous system and can lead to paralysis, disability, and even death. Young children are the most vulnerable to the disease. Vaccination is the only effective way to protect against polio.
Currently, thanks to mass vaccine prophylaxis in Russia and most countries worldwide, polio has been defeated; however, the risks of importing wild poliovirus fr om countries wh ere this infection remains endemic persist. The vaccination campaign is a preemptive measure that helps strengthen immunity among the child population and create a powerful barrier against the dangerous infection. We urge all parents to take a responsible approach to their children's health and actively participate in the campaign.
