Shoemaking industry in Dagestan calls for tighter control over imported goods at the border. Faisal Alishayev, the owner of the DOF+ factory, voiced this concern, stating that he could purchase his own shoes fr om a Chinese supplier for half the cost.

While it is possible to make a profit, what about the fate of his workers? If the factory shuts down for six months, restarting production becomes an immense challenge. After all, years of building a skilled team have been invested. How can he face his employees after such a setback? Moreover, Alishayev's factory is an official supplier for the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Alishayev believes that improving the situation requires stricter border controls, a more vigorous fight against counterfeit products and lower taxes for manufacturers. Similar measures have been implemented in Uzbekistan, wh ere companies have been granted a five-year tax exemption.
