Welcoming the participants, Ramazan Abdulatipov noted that from the first days of the Great Patriotic War, every conscious resident of Daghestan as well as all citizens of the Soviet Union considered it a sacred duty and honour to serve the motherland. Daghestani unanimously rose in defense of the fatherland; they heroically fought at the walls of Brest, Leningrad, Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, in Belarus, Ukraine, and the North Caucasus, and participated in liberating European nations.
Speaking about the troubled situation in Daghestan, Abdulatipov emphasized that thanks to veterans and a crisis management experience, we manage to defeat our current enemies. He also pointed out quite an effective work of law enforcement agencies in stabilizing the socio-political situation.
"Veterans are shrinking in number. Unfortunately, this is the law of life we cannot change. But we can change the attitude to Great Patriotic War veterans and to our motherland. We can honour and cherish them, paying attention to our patriotic consciousness. Every day, there occur less tragedies and acts of terrorism in Daghestan, but we must continue our work in this direction. The Russian Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Daghestan do a great job to restore the rule of law in Daghestan," – he concluded.
Ramazan Abdulatipov appealed to the executive agencies and public movements to closely cooperate, in particular he offered the veterans' organizations to take part in the meeting of Daghestan municipality heads and discuss patriotic education of young Daghestanis. Thus, the needed fruitful activities of veterans' organizations will be noticed and supported at the local government level.
In conclusion, Daghestani Leader wished the veterans good health, strength of spirit, and gave them memorable presents and his books.
