The Chairman of the People's Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan Zaur Askenderov met with the Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov. The parties discussed issues of cooperation between Dagestan and Azerbaijan.
Zaur Askenderov pointed out that Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to Azerbaijan showcased the priority of Russia's economic and political interests in the region.

"Dagestan is directly connected with the region and makes every effort to build and develop relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan. We have great potential, which we would like to develop" - Askenderov said.

The historical ties and good-neighborly relations between the peoples of Dagestan and Azerbaijan, as well as the prospects of opening the border between the republics, were also discussed at the meeting. Askenderov expressed readiness to make further efforts to strengthen Russia's position in the region. Both parties agreed to pursue further cooperation, including on the parliamentary level.
