The number of tourist routes in Dagestan has nearly doubled in the last two years, Emin Merdanov, the Minister of Tourism and Folk Arts of the Republic of Dagestan says. As to the top official, in 2022, there will be 90 routes in the regional network of tourist destinations, and by 2024, this number is expected to increase up to 167. Among the traditional popular destinations, such as Derbent, Sulak Canyon, Salta Waterfall and Karadakh Gap, new areas are also emerging. Trips to Akhtynsky, Dokuzparinsky, Gumbetovsky and Charodinsky municipal districts have become increasingly popular among tourists.
