This spring, Dagestan agrarians intend to plant 500 ha of orchards. This ambitious project has been preceded by extensive agrotechnical preparations, including the meticulous cleaning and preparation of the land plots, the establishment of irrigation systems, the application of fertilizers and the procurement of essential equipment.
A diverse range of crops, including hazelnut, cherry, apple, plum and other fruits, will thrive in these newly planted orchards. Notably, over the past four years, seedling cultivation in Dagestan has seen a remarkable increase. While 165,000 seedlings were grown in 2020, this figure has projected to exceed 1.3 million by 2024, representing an eight-fold growth.
Last year, the region saw more than 850 ha planted, exceeding the initial plan of 600 ha. Large-scale investment projects in this field are being spearheaded by companies like Polosa LLC, Sad Private Farm and Angelina LLC.
