Dagestani farmers have successfully developed several new varieties of fruits, vegetables, and cereals. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Dagestan, the region intends to actively participate in implementation of the new national agricultural project in 2025. This project encompasses a focus on breeding novel crop varieties.

Currently, a novel apple variety, as well as two distinct cherry varieties, have been submitted for state testing. Additionally, regional own potato cultivars have been introduced. Furthermore, the locals actively work on developing resilient lodging-resistant hybrid lines of rice, as well as hybrid cabbage varieties.
