Dagestan is launching a large-scale project to extract lithium from geothermal water. By 2030, it is planned to create an industrial line for the production of lithium with a final purity of more than 95%.
Thus, research results have shown that the technology of lithium extraction from geothermal water in Dagestan has already been successfully tested in laboratory conditions and allows to obtain lithium of high purity.
The project also envisions the possibility of extracting other rare elements, such as iodine and bromine, as well as utilizing geothermal energy to meet the region's energy demands. This project will create up to 100 new jobs, and the lithium extracted will primarily be used in the domestic market, given that lithium is a crucial component of batteries and accumulators.
