May 18 marks the 155th anniversary of the birth of Suleiman Stalsky, the national poet of Dagestan. The head of the region, Sergei Melikov, called him the brightest figure of Dagestani poetry and proposed to celebrate his anniversary in a big way.

The main events will take place in Suleiman Stalsky's ancestral village, Ashaga-Stal. They will include poetry readings, memorial evenings, themed excursions, creative events, a "Poetic Microphone" competition, book and illustration exhibitions, and more.
