Moscow to host photo exhibition “Derbent. Vital link over times”

Makhachkala, September 8, 2015. On September 15 - 28, Moscow association "Photo Center" will host a photo exhibition “Derbent. Vital link over times”, the Jewish National Fund reports.

"Derbent is one of the oldest cities in the Russian Federation. In September 2015, we will celebrate its 2000 anniversary. The photo exhibition “Derbent. Vital link over times” is dedicated to the 2000 anniversary will be held. The main purpose of the exhibition is to tell the story about the Derbent’s life, to urge people to be tolerant, to respect multiethnic culture and to identity the ethnic groups living in the Russian Federation, to harmonize the international cultural relations ", - the spokesperson said.

The famous photographers of Russia took the photos in 2014 and 2015 during the expedition to Derbent. The authors presented a vivid thematic palette that reflects the life of the city. The fortress Naryn-Kala, the children, the city and the citizens on the streets of Derbent, school, professions, marriages, religions (mosque, church and synagogue), culture, market, and circle of life - are some of the photographic topics.

The exhibition begins with photographs depicting the dawn and the night views in the ancient city of Derbent. They create the effect of a personal presence, during which the visitor can see not only the sights of the city preserved in the unique medieval atmosphere, but also to get familiarized with the religions and cultures, holidays, traditions and customs of the people of different nationalities.

To point out the centuries-old continuity of life in the city and its citizens there will be presented some previously unpublished photos of the XIX and XX centuries.

The general sponsor of the exhibition is the Jewish National Fund. The exhibition is initiated with the participation of "Russia Today" information agency.  The information partner is the web portal Strana.ru.
