Dagestan freestyle wrestling team places first at Ivan Yarygin tournament

Krasnoyarsk, January 28, 2015. Dagestan freestyle wrestling team finished first in the total standings at the Ivan Yarygin international tournament held in Krasnoyarsk on January 23-25.
Dagestanis won 3 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. This year's memorial Yarygin, which is the 26th straight event, assembled over 350 athletes from 19 countries. More than 30 Dagestani wrestlers performed on the mats of the Yarygin Sports Palace, which was the largest team at the tournament.
The first gold of Dagestani team was provided by Akhmed Gadjimagomedov that in the final of the 74 kg weight defeated American Andrew Howe. Last year, Gadzhimagomedov won silver at the tournament in Krasnoyarsk.
On the second day of the competition, Ilyas Bekbulatov repeated his gold success of 2013. In the final of the 65 kg weight, Bekbulatov was stronger than American Brent Metcalf. Muradin Kushkhov proved to be another winner of the Yarygin Grand Prix - in an intense final in the 125 kg weight, he bested Ossetia’s Alan Hugaev. Last year, Kushkhov placed third place here.
Ismail Mussukaev (57 kg) and Zainula Kurbanov (96 kg) won silver, and Rassul Arsanaliev (70 kg), Dauren Kurugliev (86 kg), and Akhmed Magomedov (86 kg) placed third at the contest.
In 2013, Dagestan wrestlers also performed best at the Yarygin tournament having finished with 3 golds, 5 silvers, and 5 bronzes.
