Dagestanis win 11th inter-regional judo tournament in Leningrad region

Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad region, May 25, 2015. More than a dozen Dagestanis won the 11th inter-regional individual and team junior judo tournament held recently in Leningrad region, deputy Dagestan missioner in St. Petersburg, vice-president and executive director of the Vsevolozhsk district Judo Federation of Leningrad region Magomed Omarakaev told RIA Dagestan. The event was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and the upcoming International Children's Day.

Dagestani winners are: Shamil Pirveliev, Murat Alimov, Shamil Gadjiakhmedov, Emir Manafov, Magomedrasrul Taimaskhanov, and others. The athletes’ coaches are: Sharaputdin Atayev, Telman Khalidov and Magdala Taymaskhanov.

The tournament was attended by over 400 athletes - boys and girls born 1998-2006 from Turkmenistan, St. Petersburg, Leningrad and Arkhangelsk regions, Dagestan, Pskov, Tver, and other Russian cities. For 2 days, they were contesting 144 sets of medals in 36 weights.

In the team standings, team Tver was the best, the St. Petersburg athletes placed second, and the team from Pskov won bronze medals. In individual competitions, good results were showed by athletes from Dagestan, Vyborg, Sosnovy Bor, and Vsevolozhsk district.
At the end of the event, there was an awarding ceremony for the winners and medalists of the tournament.
