Investors from China express interest in launching an ambitious project to build flour mills and meat processing facilities in Dagestan. The details of collaboration have been discussed during a meeting between the region governor Sergei Melikov and Andrei Tarasenko, the head of Rosmorrechflot (Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transportation) on Friday, December 6.

Chinese manufacturers of flour and canned meat intend to use Makhachkala, Dagestan's only ice-free commercial seaport on the Caspian Sea, as a strategic transportation hub for goods from central Russia to China through Iran. Melikov emphasized during the meeting that these ventures by Chinese entrepreneurs would significantly boost cargo turnover at Makhachkala International Sea Trade Port and contribute to regional economic growth.
