The R-217 'Kavkaz' motorway, a key part of the north-south international transport corridor linking various regions of the Russian Federation with foreign countries, is set to undergo significant changes by 2030. This road is not only a key route for freight transport, but also a major conduit for tourist traffic.
According to Alexander Lukashuk, the head of the Kavkaz Federal Roads Department at the Federal Road Agency, the entire length of the R-217 highway will be upgraded to a four-lane configuration with separate lanes by 2030.
