In the first quarter of 2024, shoe factories in Dagestan produced 4 million pairs of shoes. As to statistics, this is 3.5 times more than in the same period of 2023.  Earlier, the regional Ministry of Industry and Trade reported on the plan to increase production to 10 million pairs of shoes per year by 2030. For example, in 2022 Dagestan produced approx. 2.5 - 3 million pairs of shoes.

Most of the products of the footwear industry are sold on the domestic market through chain stores and marketplaces. In small quantities footwear is exported to Kazakhstan, Armenia and other CIS countries. The footwear produced includes products for the RF Ministry of Defense and special purposes, as well as some models of classic and sports footwear for everyday use.

Dagestan is implementing a strategic project "City of shoemakers". It will run until 2030, several new production facilities will be launched, investments will amount to approx. RUB 7 billion and 1,600 new permanent jobs will be created in the industry.
