Today, June 28, as part of his working visit to Dagestan, Yuri Chaika chaired a meeting of the Council under the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation to the North Caucasian Federal District. In light of recent events in the republic of Dagestan, the council discussed measures to maintain ethno-religious stability in the region.

At the beginning of the meeting, Chaika expressed his condolences, sympathy, and support for the families and loved ones of the victims of the June 23 terrorist attack, which left 21 people dead and over 50 injured. A moment of silence was observed to honor the victims.

"We see that the enemy aims to destroy the inter-ethnic and inter-confessional relations of our society, deliberately choosing as targets for his attacks objects sacred to believers, clergymen. His undoubted goal is to ignite the fire of enmity, sow the seeds of hatred and mutual alienation, destabilize the situation in our country, defame the honor of the peoples of Dagestan and the values of traditional Islam in the eyes of Russians", - the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation said.

It was noted that, in the context of the current special military operation and the increasing challenges and threats to national security, it is important not to underestimate the significance of the sphere of inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations as a potential source of discord and misunderstandings in society. During the meeting, additional measures were discussed to maintain ethnic and religious stability in the region. Appropriate instructions were provided.
