On December 13th, Dagestan Aul Museum-Reserve and Ethnographic Complex will host an exhibition entitled “Yalta Conference: Declassified Materials” from Moscow Victory Museum. The event is part of the “Territory of Victory” international project.

The Yalta Conference, held on February 4-11, 1945 in Yalta, Crimea, was a pivotal moment in the history of World War II, bringing together the leaders of the Allies — Joseph Stalin from the Soviet Union, Franklin D. Roosevelt from the United States and Winston Churchill from the United Kingdom — to discuss the future of post-war Europe. The Victory Museum emphasizes the importance of this event through its exhibition.

For the first time ever, materials from the personal archive of Ilya Azarov, a member of the Military Council of the Black Sea Fleet during the Second World War, will be presented at the exhibition. These documents shed light on the crucial role played by the Black Sea Fleet in securing the success of the Crimean Conference in 1945.

The exhibition will feature authentic photographs captured by military photojournalists, including Boris Sheinin, Alexey Mezhuev, Boris Gorelovsky, Alexander Sokolenko and Georgy Ugrinovich, who were granted permission to document the conference in February of 1945. Additionally, rare photographs from the personal archives of participants in the Yalta Conference will also be on display.

Visitors will also have a chance to explore hitherto unpublished documents such as reports, decrees, flight itineraries, agendas for meetings and arrangements for escort services. Of particular interest to visitors will be the section dedicated to the visit of Winston Churchill to Sevastopol, during which he toured the historic sites and monuments of this revitalized city, a symbol of Russia's maritime glory.
