Daghestani grapplers win team standings of Russian championships

Volgograd, September 4, 2014. Daghestani grapplers ended up the first in the team standings of the Russian junior championships taking place this week in Volgograd, President of the North Caucasus Federal District Grappling Federation Murad Abdullaev told RIA "Dagestan". Daghestani team was represented by athletes from DCC, Top Team, and Abubakarov sport clubs.

The tournament brought together about 300 athletes from 18 Russian regions. Here, medalists of the national championships qualified for the world championships to be held in Moscow November 2014.

In Volgograd, grapplers fought in Know-Ki and Ki sections. Represented in all age groups, the Daghestan team was the first in the number of golds (30 in total), leaving the Chechen team behind with their 15 first places. Moscow grapplers finished third with 6 gold medals.

Daghestan grappling school is justifiably considered to be the strongest in Russia, for Daghestani grapplers traditionally occupy the podium at high-level tournaments.
