Islamic scholars from Algeria arrive in Dagestan

Makhachkala, March 25, 2015. A delegation of the Emir Abdelkader Islamic University of Constantine, Algeria, arrived in Dagestan at the invitation of Dagestan State University, the press service of the republican Committee on Freedom of Conscience and Cooperation with Religious Organizations told RIA Dagestan.

March 22, the delegation (Professor Bashir Ahmad Sharif Cardussi and Dr. Fatih Halimi) visited Derbent in company with 1st deputy chairman of Dagestan Committee on Freedom of Conscience Harbil Harbilov, deputy dean of Dagestan State University’s faculty of Oriental studies Ahmed Magomednabiev, head of the Arabic department of the DSU faculty of Oriental studies Artur Omarov, and employee of the Academic Center for Koran Study at DSU Azartsun Magomedov.

Here, the delegation had a tour of the Naryn-Kala fortress, the old Juma mosque, and the Kyrhlyar cemetery where 40 Prophet Muhammad’s Companions were interred.

In Derbent the guests from Algeria met with Sheikh Issamudin Effendi Sahidov and Rector of the Islamic University Sheikh Abdul Effendi Arif Sahidov to discuss issues of Islamic education and intercollegiate cooperation.

During a week's stay, the guests have scheduled to meet with students of DSU, Dagestan Islamic University, and Dagestan Institute of Humanities, conduct roundtables, visit Dagestan Mufti Board, talk with Dagestani alims, and hold a concluding press conference at RIA Dagestan.
