Derbent municipality has started the construction of a new sports complex with a total area of 24,600 square meters. The project calls for a building with a rounded shape, resembling a drop or a shell. The facade will have a unique architecture with elements of an amphitheater and a colonnade. Construction of the sports palace is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026. It was previously noted that the estimated cost of the project is RUB 2 billion.

According to Vladimir Shcherbinin, the Director of RosStroyKontrol, the ground floor of the new complex will comprise a sports arena seating 2,270 spectators, a swimming pool, conference rooms and a restaurant. Floors two and three will house a hotel, gymnasium, training rooms and a choreography studio.

The basement will house a parking garage for 92 cars, as well as technical rooms for the swimming pool, hotel, restaurant, engineering and technical facilities. The project also provides for the creation of conditions to ensure accessibility for people with limited mobility. In addition to the sports palace, it is planned to build a football field with changing rooms, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, as well as infrastructure facilities such as two substations, a diesel generator, a sewage pumping station and others.
